Job Description

PRINCIPALS AND FUNCTIONS:

The principal function of the Music Assistant position is to support the music program and staff. To uphold the values mentioned above and to assure things run smoothly in the music and worship office week to week.

 

DUTIES:

  • 20 hours of work weekly
  • Work with the director of music in management of all contract singers/musicians and ensure proper staffing at all required services, special services, and weddings/funerals as requested.
  • Work with the director of music with communication and all aspects of the Chorale
  • To give oversight to the organization and maintenance of the music library.
  • Weekly organization of binders for the adults and assist with chorister binders as requested.
  • Assemble hymn packets for all liturgies.
  • Oversee organization of vestments and their maintenance. Re-order cassocks and cottas as needed in conjunction with the director of music. Ensure each Adult singer is properly fitted in a vestment.
  • Develop volunteers to assist with music library and care of vestments.
  • Maintain proper attendance records and prepare payroll for the director of music at the end of each pay period.
  • To maintain and update the online GOOGLE Chorale calendar.
  • To work alongside all music staff in these efforts.
  • Experience and established relationships within Houton’s professional vocal community are highly beneficial
