Job Description

Title: Assistant General Manager

Location: East Village, NY

Salary: $85,000

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant General Manager (AGM) to join our dynamic team! The AGM is responsible for overseeing daily restaurant operations, ensuring high-quality food and beverage service, maintaining a positive work environment, and leading the team towards achieving sales and operational objectives. The role involves managing staff development, ensuring guest satisfaction, and maintaining a cost-effective, safe, and clean operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guest Relations: Foster positive guest relationships, resolve complaints, and ensure exceptional guest experiences.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate staff, create a productive work environment, and promote a culture of cooperation and high morale.
  • Operational Oversight: Assist the General Manager in running day-to-day operations, including cost control, inventory, and adhering to company policies.
  • Staff Development: Participate in recruitment, hiring, training, performance management, and, when necessary, terminations.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure consistently high food quality, excellent service, and cleanliness standards in both kitchen and dining areas.
  • Financial Management: Assist in managing budgets, reducing costs, and ensuring profitability.
  • Safety and Compliance: Enforce safety and health regulations, ensure compliance with laws and company policies, and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Guest Satisfaction: Ensure that all guests have an outstanding dining experience and handle any issues that may arise.
  • Operational Leadership: Supervise staff on the floor during service, provide training and support, and ensure smooth restaurant operations.
  • Reporting & Communication: Report daily operational issues to the General Manager and provide solutions to any operational challenges.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of restaurant management experience, preferably in a high-volume setting.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of restaurant functions, including food preparation, sanitation, security, personnel management, and record-keeping.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills, with the ability to manage food and labor costs effectively.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, guests, and management.
  • Leadership qualities, with the ability to inspire, train, and develop a team.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
