Job Description

Title: Human Resources Generalist

Type: Full-time / Perm / Hybrid

Location: Kent, WA (2-3 days a week on-site)

Salary Range: $80k - $90k/annually, depending on experience.

Summary:

Our client is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to oversee various aspects of human resources, including workforce planning, employment, strategic management, benefits, employee relations, recruiting, and occupational health, safety, and security. Other responsibilities include enforcing workplace policies and laws, advising on HR policies, maintaining confidential employee files, managing recruitment processes, and ensuring compliance with EEO and Affirmative Action. Additionally, you will be involved in strategic management, employee development, benefits administration, employee relations, and maintaining a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Workforce Planning & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and internal policies.
  • Advise managers on HR procedures and employment matters.
  • Manage recruitment processes, including ads, screening, interviews, and onboarding.
  • Oversee background checks and drug screening.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential employee records (e.g., compensation, benefits, performance, attendance).
  • Support diversity, EEO, and Affirmative Action compliance.

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead and support a small HR team (1–3 people).
  • Develop HR initiatives aligned with company goals and values.
  • Analyze organizational needs and help drive culture, engagement, and performance.
  • Administer and evaluate quarterly and annual employee surveys.
  • Support executive leadership with strategic HR recommendations.

Training & Development

  • Assess training needs; coordinate programs and track participation.
  • Support employee recognition efforts and goal achievement (KPIs, performance).

Benefits Administration

  • Oversee benefit plans, open enrollment, and vendor coordination.
  • Manage enrollments, changes, COBRA, and compliance.
  • Respond to employee benefits inquiries and support EAP utilization.

Payroll

  • Process payroll using Paylocity.
  • Coordinate with accounting and HRIS systems for accuracy.

Employee Relations

  • Mediate issues and manage grievances with professionalism and discretion.
  • Maintain a respectful, inclusive work environment.

Health, Safety & Security

  • Promote a safe, harassment-free workplace.
  • Report and track incidents; complete OSHA and L&I reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or 5+ years of experience as an HR Generalist is required.
  • Human Resources Certification/Licensing is strongly preferred, including the PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP.
  • Must have experience managing a small HR Team.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Paylocity, MS Office Suite, Smartsheet, and Benefits Platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of EEOC, FMLA, WA-PFML, L&I, and AAPS is required.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Must reside in the Greater Seattle Area and be available to work 2-3 days a week on-site in Kent, WA.
