Job Description

The In-Process Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting forged parts throughout the manufacturing process to ensure conformance to Work Order specifications, blueprints, and customer requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Review Work Order specifications, special notes, and revision levels for accuracy and conformance to drawings and inspection plans.
Perform first article inspections prior to production to validate setup and conformance.
Conduct in-process inspections at key stages, including after press operations, and approve or reject based on dimensional and visual criteria.
Stamp and approve operations upon completion of inspection.
Verify basic dimensions and critical features using standard measuring tools and gages.
Etch and inspect sample parts both visually and dimensionally.
Inspect reworked parts to ensure defects have been corrected.
Ensure SPC (Statistical Process Control) charting is being performed as required.
Complete all applicable inspection documentation, including first article inspection reports and daily inspection logs.
Move Work Orders in the production system (Flex) upon inspection completion.
Maintain clean and organized inspection work areas, tools, and equipment.
Promptly report non-conformances, equipment issues, or safety concerns to the Quality Manager or designee.
Actively support ISO 9001 and AS9100 compliance efforts and internal audits.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S practices.
Promote and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
Performs other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:
4 years of relevant experience and/or training.

Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and customer specifications.

Strong communication skills to interface with production, engineering, and customer representatives.

Ability to write inspection reports and complete quality documentation accurately.

Proficient in basic math and capable of following written instructions and diagrams.

Experience with electronic inspection and data entry systems is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Stand and walk for 8-10 hours per day.
Use hands to handle, measure, and inspect parts.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Required vision: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Moderate noise levels with occasional exposure to airborne particles and vibration.
Shop floor presence required at least 60% of the time.
Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
