Job Description

The Manufacturing Manager will oversee all manufacturing operations to ensure products are produced efficiently, on time, within budget, and to quality standards. This individual will lead the production team and collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, and Senior Management to drive continuous improvement, support new product introduction, and maintain a safe and effective work environment. This role requires hands-on leadership, strong organizational skills, and a solid background in engineering, supply chain and production operations.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide daily leadership and oversight for the manufacturing team, including supervisors, assemblers, and technicians.
• Oversee daily manufacturing operations and ensure adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce lead times, and increase output.
• Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, quality yield, scrap and rework, and on-time delivery.
• Partner with Engineering for smooth introduction of new products and design transfer to manufacturing.
• Lead lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure equipment, tools, and facilities are maintained and calibrated to support production needs.
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks and optimize sourcing strategies
• Participate in audits and maintain compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and other applicable regulatory standards.
• Coach, mentor, and develop production staff; conduct performance reviews and support employee development.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in instrumentation, optics, or electronics.
• At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Proven experience implementing lean manufacturing and process improvement methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar), production planning, and quality systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Skilled in Excel, SharePoint, and database management, with additional experience in cloud infrastructure.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and hands-on environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in engineering, operations, or business (preferred but not required).
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
• Background in the manufacturing of optical or analytical instruments.
• Proficiency with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies (e.g., 8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys).

Job Type: Full-time

Physical Requirements:

Occasional lifting of very lightweight materials, some lightweight lifting, and occasional lifting of average to heavy weight materials of over 30 lbs. Occasional pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing and upper body and arm rotation. Some bending, stooping, and standing. Continuous sitting. Occasional use of hazardous chemicals.
