Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Warehouse professional ready to take the next step in their career to lead the design, implementation, and management of our data warehousing solutions using Microsoft Fabric. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, experience with the Microsoft ecosystem, and a passion for delivering impactful data solutions. You will be responsible for ensuring our data warehouse supports business intelligence, reporting, and advanced analytics needs. This role involves significant opportunities to shape our data strategy and grow your leadership skills. Initially, this will be an individual contributor role, with the potential to build and lead a team as the company and data needs grow.

Responsibilities:

Strategy and Leadership:

  • Help develop and execute the data warehousing strategy, aligning with business goals and objectives.
  • Help connect to 3rd party data sources working to ingest and organize data alongside internal working data for fast decision making with our supply chain partners.
  • Work closely with our company COO in advancing a collaborative and growth-oriented environment driven around data and analytics.
  • Establish and enforce data warehousing best practices, standards, and procedures.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in data warehousing, with a focus on the Microsoft ecosystem and Fabric, and drive innovation.

Architecture and Design:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and high-performance data warehouse solutions on Microsoft Fabric.
  • Develop data models (dimensional and relational) to support business requirements.
  • Architect ETL/ELT processes for efficient data integration from diverse sources.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across the data warehouse.

Implementation and Management:

  • Oversee the implementation of data warehouse projects, ensuring timely delivery and within budget.
  • Manage the performance, optimization, and tuning of the data warehouse environment.
  • Monitor data warehouse operations, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions.
  • Manage data security and access control to protect sensitive information.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Work closely with IT and other internal teams to ensure seamless data integration and delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior management.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other teams on data warehousing concepts and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of data engineering or data warehousing experience
  • Solid hands-on experience with Microsoft data technologies, including:
  • Microsoft Fabric (Data Warehouse, Data Factory, Lakehouse)
  • SQL Server
  • Azure Data Services (Synapse Analytics, Data Lake Storage, etc.)
  • ETL tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory)
  • Power BI
  • Power Apps
  • Deep understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling (star schema, snowflake schema), and ETL/ELT processes
  • Strong SQL skills, including writing complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning
  • Experience with data modeling tools
  • Demonstrated leadership potential, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of data governance principles and practices

  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages is a plus
  • Experience with real-time data warehousing preferred
  • Knowledge of data science and machine learning concepts preferred
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools preferred
  • Knowledge of SAP FMS or S/4HANA preferred
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate) are a plus

Annual salary range starting at $140,000
