Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing manufacturing processes that include optimizing our precision machining and robotics to enhance existing processes as well as creating new processes designed for manufacturing. The role entails leveraging automation and robotics expertise to streamline operations and improve efficiency across production lines. The Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate closely with the Engineering Department on product design-for-manufacturing, utilizing SolidWorks to create parts, assemblies, and drawings for components, molds, and equipment. Effective communication with Production personnel is crucial to ensure processes and products meet design intent and customer specifications.

Responsibilities also include evaluating and recommending improvements for quality control processes, analyzing production data to provide management with insights for better designs and processes, and ensuring compliance with all government laws and regulations. Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineer will review and calculate production costs, schedules, and future requirements to support decision-making, plan workflow and equipment placement to enhance efficiency, and coordinate maintenance and repairs to keep production equipment operational.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and implementation of new manufacturing processes which may include precision machining and robotics.
  • Process improvement and optimization of existing manufacturing processes.
  • Assist Engineering Department with product design-for-manufacturing.
  • Design and develop parts, assemblies, and drawings for components, molds, and equipment in SolidWorks.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with Production personnel to ensure manufacturing processes and end products meet design intent and customer specifications.
  • Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements in quality control.
  • Analyze production processes, schedules, methods, and other data and provide management with reports to enable management to identify and implement better designs and manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure that the company’s manufacturing process are in compliance with all government laws and regulations.
  • Review and calculate labor, materials, and other production costs along with reviewing schedules and future production requirements to assist management in decision making.
  • Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair services and make sure that manufacturer’s procedures and instructions are followed in order to keep production equipment operational.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. ME or MET degree
  • Proficient in SolidWorks (CAD) and Fusion 360 (CAM)
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing
  • Knowledgeable in CNC programming / machining
  • 5+ years of industry experience
  • Experience and training in lean manufacturing (preferred)
  • OSHA safety training (preferred)
  • Ability to effectively communicate with Engineering and Production
  • Experience in manufacturing of composite parts (preferred)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (required)
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with Compotech’s engineers, technicians, interns, and contractors.
