About Musical Chess!
Musical Chess is an imaginative early childhood program that combines the logic of chess with the creativity of music for kids ages 2½ to 7. Our mission is to nurture confident, focused, and curious learners—through hands-on play, movement, and connection. We're on the lookout for vibrant, dependable teachers who love working with kids and know how to hold a room with warmth and clarity. No chess or music expertise needed—we’ll train you and provide everything you need to shine.
About the Role
This is a mobile teaching role where you’ll lead 30–45 minute Musical Chess sessions at different locations across the Greenville area.
These may include:
● One-on-one private lessons
● Small group sessions
● Public classes
● Preschool or school-based programs
We supply the curriculum, training, and support—you bring the energy, creativity, and ability to connect with kids.
You’re a Strong Candidate If You:
● Have confident, calm classroom management skills
●Love working with young children (ages 2–7) and know how to keep them engaged
● Are playful, expressive, and not afraid to be a little silly
● Are dependable, punctual, and easy to work with
● Have basic musicality (you can clap to a beat and carry a simple tune)
● Have reliable transportation and are open to teaching at multiple locations
● Are eager to learn and follow a structured, fun curriculum
● Can pass a background check and meet Greenville County Schools’ Volunteer Level 2 status
● Value being part of a mission-driven, supportive team
What You’ll Do
● Lead engaging, music-infused chess classes using our proven curriculum
● Manage small groups with warmth and structure
● Build positive relationships with kids, families, and schools
● Represent Musical Chess with professionalism and heart
● Create a learning space that feels special and inspiring
Schedule & Hours
● Start with 10–20 hours/week, primarily afterschool hours though not exclusively
● Optional summer teaching and paid training before launch
● Weekly team check-ins and ongoing support

Compensation & Growth
● $20/hour to start (upon successful completion of training at $15/hr)
● Performance-based raises at 6 months and 1 year
