Job Description

Purpose of the Job:

Production Scheduler:

To produce and manage the weekly production schedule by day for manufacturing using the following criteria:

  • Meets customer requirements
  • Optimize run size and change over
  • Machine capacity constraints
  • Raw material constraints
  • Labor resource constraints

Demand planner:

  • To critique and challenge the monthly sales forecast (including SAP forecast) against the available manufacturing capacity and make recommendations.
  • Review sales orders and customer requirements taking into account available manufacturing capacity and generate a monthly manufacturing plan.
  • Review stock profile for Hazleton and minimize slow moving stock and maximize prime stock holding.
  • Review inventory classification to optimize supply strategy and in turn stock availability performance
  • Produce rough cut capacity plans and use to identify capacity issues and step changes. Produce inventory plans and propose changes to production plans to meet inventory budgets Identify future storage capacity issues

Typical job context

  • To produce a weekly schedule for the manufacturing plant and update this as required.
  • Liaise closely with Supply Chain Manager to agree inventory levels.
  • Liaise with all production areas as required to maximize customer service and determine the most efficient use of resources.
  • Liaise with G sales offices to agree production dates for future orders and raise production orders in mfg.
  • Review monthly, quarterly and annual requirements with Supply Chain Manager and agree production plans.
  • Update all relevant personnel on any current production issues.
  • Play an active role in developing the current methods for planning and scheduling including running the MRP to ensure optimum stock levels to support sales and the forward production plan.
  • Use MFG and SAP to print out production figures and order intake figures for the morning production meeting and chair a daily meeting (PM) with Line Managers to review the program and agree priorities.
  • Maintain an up to date roll plan including all relevant customer order comments
  • Attend daily production meeting and provide performance data.
  • Any other ad hoc duties as may be required from time to time.

Job responsibilities / results

  • Use and maintain SAP sales forecast tool once implemented.
  • To review, analyze and evaluate historical sales data for use in helping forecast future demand.
  • To manage and plan the phase in and phase out of new and old ranges.
  • Plan an active role in developing the current methods of planning and scheduling including MRP.
  • Cover for the production scheduler as required.
  • To conduct S&Op meetings with main markets
  • Issue stock and performance reports to the designated personnel.
  • Generate a 4-month planning forecast.
  • Compile stock profile data.
  • Creation and updating of slow-moving stock and seconds stock list.- Undertake planning improvement activity, working with each production line to identify areas of opportunity to reduce the overall cost of manufacture, improve and eliminate waste and unnecessary operations.
  • To produce the most efficient production programme for each of the production lines on a weekly basis.

Knowledge and experience (job requirements)

  • Good verbal and written communication skills across all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills and must be logical, methodical and analytical in their approach to work.
  • Experience using enterprise resource planning systems SAP mandatory
  • Item/stock Maintenance and creation of master data in SAP.
  • Manage stock profile.
  • Maximize sales opportunities of slow-moving stock and out of range items.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a Supply Chain Planning role
