Professor Gus A Baker

Gus A Baker is a Professor [Emeritus] of Clinical Neuropsychology and Honorary Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist. Professor Baker has led the clinical neuropsychology service at the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neuropsychology and the University Department of Neurosciences in the University of Liverpool. He has worked as an academic clinician in the field of adult epilepsy for over 30 years. He is actively involved with several Epilepsy charities, including serving as a Vice President of Epilepsy Action and previously as Research lead for the IBE. Professor Baker has been involved in a programme of research into the impact of epilepsy for many years. He has published widely in the areas of cognitive and psychosocial consequences of epilepsy with over 300 peer reviewed publications, books and chapters. He has travelled extensively giving lectures, workshops and seminars in over 55 countries. He has served on a range of tasks forces for the International League against epilepsy and the International Bureau for Epilepsy. He is the recipient of a number of awards including the Ambassador for Epilepsy, The Barbara Wilson Award for Clinical Neuropsychology services in the UK, award, and The Lord Hastings award for services to Epilepsy. He is a Fellow of the British Psychological Society and recipient of BPS Lifetime award. He currently serves as the Secretary General for the International Bureau for epilepsy.
